Harris, Rubh' An Teampuill submitted by PAB on 26th Feb 2019. Cup-shaped markings near Rubh' An Teampuill broch.
While looking for some cup marks reported on an information board, I noticed these - not having any grid ref etc at the time to guide our search, I wondered if these might have been the ones.

Linney Head Hillfort, Iron Age and earlier. This is the general view from the west. Would have preferred not to have the minibus in shot, but it does actually give some idea of scale...and it did allow us to go through the Artillery Range as well!

Holy Well (Biddestone)

Site Type: Holy Well or Sacred Spring
Country: England (Wiltshire)
Visited: Would like to visit
Holy Well (Biddestone) submitted by KiwiBetsy on 13th Sep 2006. The Starwell is quite a large spring that flows from a slope and into a small stream. If you are lucky you may find one of the tiny star shaped fossils (crinoids) which give the spring one of it’s names. These fossils are freed from the underlying rock by the water, carried to the surface and deposited in the silty bed of the spring. Holywell Bay submitted by theendlessbreeze on 29th Jun 2004. Here is a series of images of the holy well at Holywell Bay, Cornwall.
Starting from the top left, the entrance to the cave, the unusual and striking multicoloured rocks, the natural basins within the cave and looking down at the basins where you can see the water from the rocks collects in a natural bowl.
A very unusual and beautiful place.

Huaca Huantille
Date Added: 21st Oct 2013
Site Type: Pyramid / Mastaba
Country: Peru
Visited: Yes on 21st Oct 2013
Huaca Huantille submitted by pab on 21st Oct 2013. Adobe bricks at Huaca Huantille. Stacked alongside the pyramid during the current excavation, these adobe bricks give a good idea of the material used in many parts of Peru.
Adobe bricks are made of earth with a fairly high clay content and straw and then only sun-dried, rather than being kiln dried. Only the very dry conditions make this suitable for such significant structures.

"Saxon Cross"
"Stanley West, then county archaeologist, made an exciting discovery in 1977. A large piece of stone built into the base of the church tower was a piece of an early stone cross. It is decorated with Anglo-Saxon interlace patterns and a mythical beast. Dating from the late 800s to early 900s, it would have been originally about 3 metres high. Such crosses ...
