The chasm in the foreground is the aptly named Castle Zawn, containing the wreck of the ship RMS Mulheim. The defences of the cliff castle can be seen on the left side of the photo. There is a counter-scarp bank and ditch, then a berm, then a wall made of large granite stones packed with rubble. No traces of a settlement exist within the defended area, which is very exposed to the sea and prevailing winds.
