Lligwy Burial Chamber

Lligwy Burial Chamber submitted by Jimwithnoname on 8th Sep 2011. Amazing dolmen and very unnerving sat underneath the 25 ton capstone. It's perched on very little it seems on the one side. The warden approached us as we sat eating at the site. He asked if we were thinking of stopping the night, which we were, but as he said. that's a no no. We respected him and moved on after our picnic. He was quite pleasant and only doing his job. Many people wild camp as he said, and set fire to crops or drive through hedges!

Visbeker Braut

Visbeker Braut submitted by Martin_L on 18th Jan 2011. The SW-side narrow side. It is built of 4 enormous kerbstones, all appr. 3m high. Like at similar sites, the kerbstones at the narrow sides are the largest. The other short side in the NW is partly destroyed, but two large corner stones are still in place. These larger kerbstones at the short sides of long barrows are often called “Wächter” (means: “guard” or “guardian”) in Germany. March 2008

Malltraeth

Malltraeth submitted by TimPrevett on 2nd Jul 2002. Malltraeth Standing Stone SH408693 Visited Saturday 24th September 2000 Heading NW on the A4080, take the 2nd right after the bridge over the Afon Cefni; this takes you onto a very narrow residential street, so mind your wing-mirrors! At the end were 3 lanes; the middle took me to a house; here I asked permission; it was not the landowner, but the person said the farmer would be happy for me to visit it! The right lane goes next to some bungalows, and leads to a blue, rusty kissing gate. ...

Caltabellotta submitted by ivanjohnson on 15th Oct 2007. Altar (with later wall on cliff edge) These altars are all on the east side of the town. This is altar 1. The other side of that wall and handrail on the right is a spectacular sheer cliff that I recall being even more death defying (i.e. higher) than the other two on the opposite ridge.
