Log Text: This May I took the opportunity, while passing through the area, to locate and photograph both of the so-called Halsary Stones. The larger southern stone stands beside the access road leading from the main road to the wind farm facilities. The site can be reached without much trouble although visitors should be aware that the stone lies directly beneath high voltage power lines.
Halsary standing stone itself is situated about 100 metres north of this road in open moorland. Somehow split stone stands just under one metre high and is protected by a wire enclosure. According available online sources it is a typical example of a local Bronze Age standing stone.
Personally I was most impressed by the contrast between the ancient world of stones and the modern world of wind turbines.
