Log Text: Czech Karst is a romantic and wild area roughly 130 square km south west of Prague. Mainly limestone rocks are rugged with deep gorges, canyons and karst caves. Despite the fact that caves in the Czech Karst are primarily smaller in size, it is the one of the most important region of speleo-archaeological interest in the Czech Republic. There is around 80 registered archaeological localities from practically all periods of the prehistoric and historic eras.
Superb Koda Cave is easily accessible rock spaces in this area. It has produced many findings mainly from the Neolithic and Eneolithic times. But also very interesting early to middle Bronze Age pottery pieces of an unusual nature, probably from the Alpine region.

Log Text: Notable stone monument standing north of the medieval royal town Rakovnik. Block of the coarse-grained sandstone with isolated quartzite pieces of a total length about 120cm. For a short time it was stolen in 80th. When the stone was secretly returned to its original place, it was laid down to a greater depth. Now it raises above the ground up to 65cm only.
The stone is widely known as "Petrified Virgin". Quite usual folk tale talks about a girl punished by for impiety and mischief. She was turned to stone, which has now allegedly a woman shape.
Even the experts are unsure about the origin and purpose. Some suppose the stone was a kind of milestone, some say it is the remnant of an ancient cross and others insist it is true menhir and believe in its prehistoric origin. Though any serious survey is still missing.
The true is that stone is situated just a few steps from the very probable prehistoric La Tène structure so called "Viereckschanze Na Kokrdech". And this fact can strongly support all the "menhir-origin" theories.
The Petrified Virgin is hard to miss. It is standing next to the main road on the verge of the field.

Log Text: Locally popular menhir can be found by the fields west of the village called Kamenný Most (translate as a Stone Bridge). Almost one meter high stone with visible carving of latin cross.
In fact until now there are doubts whether it is "true" prehistoric menhir or medieval stone cross or even milestone. An interesting event happened in 1896 when two human skeletons were discovered in close vicinity by one of the locals. After that some sort of archeological survey was conducted therefore but without any significant success.
Geologist who studied the stone in 80th of last century came finally to conclusion that the stone is menhir. And so the stone is known today. Be that as it may, the stone simply stands there and I personally like it..

Log Text: The area of Heiliger Stein is very well preserved today with great respect. There is a small partly nature chapel and the reconstructed foundation of abandoned church. Below the main stone there is a chain of spherical black stones which ends with a small circle. If I understood the information sign in german well, these black stones are modern datation and it should designate energy-relevant locations.

Log Text: Well...that's something! The only structure of its kind in this part of the Europe.... an authentic pyramid! Despite several researches, this circular step pyramid remains one big mystery.
Some people say it is medieval or maybe newer construction and part of some romantic natural park. Other researches estimate its age for 2000 years. Some say that it is an ancient germanic sacral place, other suppose this as a newer guarding outpost. According to some measurements an exceptional energy lines intersect here but I cant confirmed that.
Until the year 2000 the place was just a pile of stone debris. After that it was researched (without any significant conclusions) and reconstructed. Average in the base is about 17m and the heigt is up to 7m. Estimated used material is about 2000 tons of stones.. such a work for only romantic imitation.. To me the place is simply beautiful, enigmatic place worth a visit.
