At least five early to 10th Century cross heads at the rear of St John the Baptist in Chester. The church is immediately adjacent the Roman Amphitheatre, and opposite the Chester Visitor Centre. A church has stood on this location for at least 1,300 years, and therefore the place has a long history. There are ruins of different phases of the church at the west and east ends of the exterior. The solstice night is very short, but when you're waiting for the sun to rise, it gives plenty of opportuntiy to experiment with photos! I took this photo around 2am, in the middle of the solstice night. The moon was shining very brightly casting beautiful moonlight shadows, it felt very magical. I turned up my ISO rating to catch as much light as I could, and set the timer for 30 seconds. This is the result. I know its a grainy picture, and rather odd, but the b...
