Aligned southeast to northwest, the barrow mound is now about 24 metres long, although originally it would have been longer and still survives to a height of about a metre and width of 13 metres at the southeast end behind the chamber to about 8 metres at the northwestern end. This collapsed burial chamber still has two large uprights in situ, another horizontal slab behind the tomb is believed to be the capstone of the collapsed burial chamber. Many flints from the Mesolithic and Neolithic have been found in rock outcroppings in the Weald, including near here. Arthur's Stone submitted by Anne T on 28th Jul 2021. Photo from the western side of the monument. Historic England List ID 1010720 tells us this is: "(the) exposed, stone lined, entrance passage from the north west edge of the barrow. This is formed by nine stones arranged to form a linear passage 0.8m wide. It runs for 5m approximately east to west before turning at right angles to the south for 2.9m".
