Log Text: Superb hillfort with commanding views in all directions, particularly the south towards Cranbourne Chase. The atmosphere is improved by the absence of any traffic noise or the sight of any settlement larger than a small village whichever way you look. On a cold winter’s day the wind moans as it blows up the steep escarpments to the south, kites and buzzards circle and crows fly in vain against the gusts. Magnificent and magical.

Log Text: There is so much here worthy of proper investigation. The site feels like a ruinous cousin of Avebury, with fallen avenues, at least one large and I think an almost definite smaller second circle, polishing stone and possible cists in abundance. I highly recommend taking in the valley via a circular walk from the Hardy monument which will bag you megaliths aplenty in a few happy hours, the Hellstone and Grey Mare and her Colts being highlights.

Devil's Arrows submitted by Humbucker on 27th Apr 2019. All three Devils Arrows looking from the north. The light improved for a brief few minutes & the sun made a brief appearance while I was there before turning into a flat, grey evening.
