Site Type: Sculptured Stone
Country: France (Languedoc:Hérault (34))
Visited: Yes on 22nd Jun 2006. My rating: Condition 2 Ambience 3 Access 5

Statue menhir de La Pomarède submitted by thecaptain on 12th Mar 2009. Right outside the tourist office at Fraisse-sur-Agout, next to a wall behind a big tree display thing, is the top 90 cm of this statue menhir which must have once been 2 metres tall.
It is very difficult to make out any markings, with it being in dark shadow and very moss covered.

Statue menhir de Picarel
Trip No.25 Entry No.24 Date Added: 6th Dec 2018
Site Type: Sculptured Stone
Country: France (Languedoc:Hérault (34))
Visited: Yes on 22nd Jun 2006. My rating: Condition 4 Ambience 4 Access 4

Statue menhir de Picarel submitted by thecaptain on 1st Mar 2009. This finely shaped statue-menhir stands over 2 metres tall, and looks out down the valley to the southwest.
The only obvious markings and carvings on the stone are relatively modern, a deep cut halfway up, and some circles in the upper part. No doubt someone trying to make millstones in the fairly recent past.

Paumérou menhir submitted by theCaptain on 4th Nov 2010. At just over 2 metres tall, 1 metre wide and 40 cm thick, it almost looks shaped to have a head, or am I now just imagining things after seeing so many statue-menhirs around here ?

Pré-de-Roi menhir submitted by theCaptain on 1st Nov 2010. The Pré-de-Roi menhir is 2.5 metres tall and looks for all the world like it should be carved into a statue menhir.
Perhaps it once was, and all the features have been eroded away by several thousand years of being in the open.
