Xpuhil

Xpuhil submitted by davidmorgan on 9th Feb 2009. Structure I - also known as the Building of the Three Towers. It constitutes an atypical example of the Rio Bec style due to the presence of the third, or central, tower. It has a maximum height of 18m and its centre line runs more than 53m along a perfect north-south alignment. From the site information board. (It looks a few degrees off on Google Earth).

Log Text: The site is so fantastic to visit due to the presence of the lake and the pristine forest around. We saw many more animals then at eg Tikal. It must have been quite an important place, given that like Tikal certain structures are in Teotihuacan style, which would suppose a permanent trade agency or an ambassador to that Mexican culture resided here.
