The Ladywell submitted by DavidCWoods on 26th Sep 2004. The well contains inscriptions "Ye Ancient Ladye Well" and "Restored 1902" together with a lot of more recent carvings. Not absolutely sure whether the decoration represents plants, serpants or something else.

Log Text: A beautiful well in an oval pool that is well hidden among the larch, ash and rhododendrons. On private land, but worth the trip through the brambles and nettles if you believe these sites are worthy of being honoured. They say that there was a lawn behind the spring where the locals would dance on Midsummer's Eve. You can still see where this may have been.
It's also fascinating to think D H Lawrence had visited the site as it's described in Lady' Chatterley's Lover.
I have come to think of this more as Lady Chatterley's Well than Robin Hood's well now.
Long may it be loved and cherished.

Holy Well (Broadclyst) submitted by KiwiBetsy on 8th Sep 2006. This large, rather overgrown wellhouse houses a deep pool of clear water which appears to be being tapped as a water supply, even so a considerable amount flows from the front of the wellhouse making for a wet approach. A wood and wire frame had been placed across the entrance to the wellhouse but was easily moved for this photo.
