Log Text: I loved the energy here. I had a great time. I parked by the forestry road gate and walked a short distance up to the circle on the right.

Log Text: I parked in the one space right where the farm track bends, then walked up the path until I saw the path through the woods to the stone circle. Walking through the woods was a little spooky as you could hear the trees creaking and it was a little dark in there. The stone circle is located at the edge of the woods in a clearing. This stone circle had a different feel than others I visited in Aberdeenshire. This circle had a more abandoned feel to me, and I felt a feeling of sadness and abandonment when I first arrived at the circle. I feel that this circle wants to be used more and visited more. I loved this circle and look forward to returning.

Log Text: I was very disappointed in my visit here. This tomb is way too restricted in my opinion. I don't know why they don't let people just go in on their own and explore like they do in most other places in Scotland (except Skara Brae). There are places to explore in there but they are off limits. The tour is boring and only goes just inside the first part of the tomb. I feel like I didn't even really see the tomb even though I went on the tour, because we were not allowed to explore. Maeshowe is so hyped up and therefore I was so excited to see it. However, I found the tour boring and repressive. I would rather go someplace I can explore freely.

Log Text: The walk to the caves isn't too long and is very nice as you walk along the river and up the glen. However, its not a quick walk. You do have to allow some time. The path to the caves is steep and narrow though, but was in good condition when I went.

Log Text: This is a very spooky cave. It did not feel good for me to go too far into the cave, although I did go alone too. The next day I went to other lava tube caves that are part of Lava Beds National Monument (highly recommended), and they did not have the spooky feel this cave had. I felt very unwelcome, and I reached a point where I did not feel I should continue any further. It felt like an energetic barrier. The darkness of the cave beyond where I stopped looked like a black hole, or a black abyss, and not a place I felt good going into. So I turned around at that point. This is supposed to be a sacred site in the new age circles, but I certainly did not pick up on friendly energies here, like I have felt at other sacred sites. Not sure what to make of it. I wonder if any other people have had the same experience as me, or maybe they are just not as sensitive. It was an intense experience to visit this cave. Not sure I will be back.

Log Text: I absolutely loved this cairn. I went inside and felt like I was in an inner sanctum of peace. It was rainy and windy outside, but when I went inside, it was so peaceful and quiet. It felt amazing to be surrounding all around by stones. I felt connected to the stones. It is such a place of peace. This would be a good place to go if you needed to make an important decision and needed clarity. The energy inside the center is amazing and felt totally sacred to me. I highly recommend visiting inside alone. You have to squat and walk to get to the inside passage for part of the way.
