A section of an ancient footbridge has washed away following heavy rain.
Slabs from the middle of the Tarr Steps on Exmoor, near Withypool, washed downstream during recent flooding in Somerset.

Glastonbury Stone Circle submitted by dodomad on 25th Jun 2023. Glastonbury Carhenge 2023. The Mutoid Waste Company led by Joe Rush, who also built a Carhenge at Glastonbury Festival 36 years ago, have built a scrap car Stonehenge for this year’s festival. Some of the cars were painted by artists and environmentalists. Brilliant idea and execution!

Windywaycross, possibly a re-used standing stone on Ippestones Edge at SK056492 at a place called Windywaycross, just off the road branching to Alton Towers, off the Leek-Ashbourne road. Approaching from the north, the stone is 8m off the RH side of the road.

Looking E / NE - despite Castle Ring being the highest part of Cannock Chase, the only part with a panoramic view, looks towards (Rugeley?) Power Station!

Tricky access up a narrow steep path, on the western side of the Tor.

Long Low submitted by TimPrevett on 30th Jul 2006. Looking along Long Low to the SSW. Two interesting things about Long Low: 1) It is the only long barrow in Staffordshire, and 2) It has rounded ends, which are either described as two round barrows, or as rounded terminals. This is very reminiscent of the Broadmayne Bank Barrow in Dorset. Drystone walling intersects it in several places, and I styal is incorporated into one of the western side walls.

The Battle Stone (Ilam) submitted by TimPrevett on 30th Jul 2006. The Battle Stone - remains of an 11th Century Cross in the grounds of Ilam Hall. For most straightforward access, leave the church with the two Saxon Crosses, left to the river, then before the river turn right for a pleasant walk along its side. The cross is on the right hand side after about 10 minutes walking, as a wide meadow arcs to the left. The cross was not discovered until 1840, and the name, one must suppose, is down to the imagination of those who discovered it.

St Mary and All Saints (Checkley) submitted by TimPrevett on 8th May 2007. The three 9th Century Anglo-Scandinavian cross shafts in Checkley Churchyard. One would be fine! A superb group, each around 5 feet tall. The church and churchyard are fascinating. If not open a key is available very nearby - mail me for details. An unusual Saxon font is at the rear of the church, as well as a good guidebook for £2 as of 08/05/07. The churchyard is very nearly completely circled by yew trees, most of them relatively juvenile, but a couple are noticeably larger in girth. On the ...

Gawton's Well submitted by TimPrevett on 4th Nov 2008. Got around to visiting here yesterday, and it's brilliant. It's only 16 miles east for me, so returning won't be too much of an issue. Very atmospheric woodland and castle like folly neaby too. I wouldn't be surprised if therein lies a connection with the well.
The spring lies within a large circular wall, in varying states of collapse, and within that is an elipse of yew trees - reminiscent of the ring of trees in "Nightmare Before Christmas". If this were Wales I'd start thinking this was th...
