Matronenheiligtum Bonn submitted by Harald_Platta on 23rd May 2016. The Matronenheiligtum Bonn was an ancient temple in Bonn (North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany). It was a predecessor building of today`s Bonner Münster. Excavations beneath the church lead to the discovery of several votive stones dedicated to the Gallo-Roman Matronae Aufaniae, which are Romanized versions of Gallo/Germanic mother deities.
Picture of a votive stone (2nd century AD) displayed in the LVR Rheinisches LandesMuseum Bonn.
Votive stone No.3.

Teufelsstein (Grethen) submitted by majoky on 27th Mar 2010. The Teufelsstein, said to be a sacrificial stone altar from celtic times, more then eight feet high.
Five steps, a single step to the right, a clearly visible runnel further right.
Another artificial an deep runnel opens out into the top stephole (probably more a bowl than a step in ancient times?)
