La Hutte aux Gabelous, Saint Mars-sur-la-Futaie, Mayenne A cracking little find this, its been 2/3rds restored and the other end left as it was found. I think a Gabelou is some sort of soldier employed to crack down on smugglers, but cannot be sure yet.

It holds the more valuable small objects, such as clay tablets and jewelery from the significant Syrian archeological sites such as Ebla, Ugarit or Mari. There is a Lapidarium outside with mostly Roman or hellenistic parts of statues, sarcophagi and decorative objects. The pre Roman statues are mostly in the Aleppo Museum.

Chamber measuring 18m by 2,5m-4,5m (clear: 15m by 1,2m -3m). Width maximum at the centre where the lateral passage is situated. Garde Epée dolmen submitted by TheCaptain on 28th Jul 2007. Garde Epée dolmen suffers from graffitti and rubbish, but is otherwise well looked after in a little clearing amongst the vines with its own sign. It can be found just to the south of the D.157 road, a couple of kilometres west of Jarnac.
