As it happened this pa and others around the Whangaparaoa Peninsula received their heaviest attack from the Nga Puhi tribe arriving by sea from the north. June 2012.

The midden is one of many along the Okura river and is evidence of the settlement of this region my Maori peoples. The midden contains the debris of the adjacent long abandoned settlement.
