Backa Brastad Hällristningar submitted by DrewParsons on 21st Oct 2011. Skomakaren or The Shoemaker. This figure is the central feature of a large panel at this site. The carving is 1.5 metres high. It is not a shoemaker but probably a depiction of a god with fertility attributes. Such large carvings started to appear around 1200 BC. He carries a sword and an axe and wears greaves. September 2011.

Babylon. submitted by DrewParsons on 5th May 2010. Parts of the Ishtar Gate and lions from the Processional Way are in various other museums around the world. This one I saw in the Louvre in Paris in 2009. When I visited Babylon in 1963 there was little evidence of anything historic left, the site was mostly mud rubble except for a stone lion. The rebuilt remains have little in common with the site as I knew it then.
