Roche Aux Loups
Date Added: 10th Jun 2012
Site Type: Burial Chamber or Dolmen
Country: France (Pays de la Loire:Loire-Atlantique)
Visited: Yes on 2nd May 2010
Roche Aux Loups submitted by DrewParsons on 2nd May 2010. The direction to this site is well signposted from the village of La Gravelais, although the signpost uses the dolmen's alternative name, "La Pierre aux Loups". Some 500 metres down an earth road from the village you see the dolmen 40 metres away in a field. The gate is fastened and there is a very old sign saying private property, access only with the owner's permission. This photo was taken in April 2010 from the gate.

Roche-aux-Fées (Essé) submitted by DrewParsons on 6th Nov 2009. This must be one of the most impressive sites in prehistoric Europe. I visited it as my last site in France this year (2009) but almost missed my plane in doing so. However, it was well worth the effort.

Rocky Hill
Date Added: 22nd Jun 2014
Site Type: Ancient Cross
Country: England (Isles of Scilly)
Visited: Would like to visit
Rocky Hill submitted by Thorgrim on 19th Aug 2004. This early cross is now located in the garden of Rocky Hill Farm on St Mary's. It was formerly one of two High Crosses of St Mary's (the other is now on the gable end of Old Town Church). It was originally sited at Haycrosse and then, after losing its shaft, cemented to a hedge on Salakee Down (a "hedge" is the name for a dry stone wall in Scilly). Moved again when the airport was built - it now lives among the bizarre stones collected in the garden at Rocky Hill.
