Neu Benzin Steingrab submitted by holger_rix on 21st Nov 2010. The natural preserve 'Naturschutzgebiet Radegasttal' stretches 2km
in NNW-SSE orientation along the east border of the meandering river
Radegast, 4km NNW of the town Gadebusch.
It is a mixed forest, and you can enter it from the NNW end near Neu Benzin.
A small path leads you along the forests border, and you come along a number
of very old trees with almost 2m diameter.
(It might be mosquito infested in summer)
There are the remains of four tombs in this forest.

Newark Earthworks - Octagon submitted by bat400 on 25th Nov 2007. This photo was taken from the observing platform that is set on the east side of the connecting "road" between the circle and octagon in the "Octagon" earthwork site. Looking northeast toward the octagon. The small loaf-shaped mound at the end of the road blocks the view if you were entering the octagon by the "road". This is a typical of Hopewell construction - with openings that are "revealed" gradually.

Newgrange submitted by DrewParsons on 6th Jul 2010. The reconstructed quartz facade is certainly an eye catcher although there is serious debate as to whether the original site looked like this. It is interesting that quartz played such an important symbolic roll at prehistoric sites across Europe through to early Celtic Christian sites where quartz pebbles would be left as offerings.
