Athens Acropolis submitted by Alun on 27th Jan 2004. The Acropolis at Athens is the big rock which all the temples sit on. The temple you can see peeking over the fortifications is the Parthenon.

Sam'al Lion Gate Right

Sam'al Lion Gate Right submitted by AlexHunger on 2nd Nov 2004. Sam'al Gate Lion Right ca 800 BCE. Southern Turkey, near the Syrian border. These Gate gardians are primitive versions of the type used later by the Assyrians. It is thought this one had been reworked from an earlier example. These objects are all located in the Berlin Pergamum Museum.
