St Cattwg's Church (Llanspyddid)

St Cattwg's Church (Llanspyddid) submitted by PERKYPUFFIN on 20th Oct 2019. Pab is correct try and take your photo of this about 10 to 10.30 am. Look for this stone in the middle of the graves at the back of the church. Church all locked up. I have seen many circular designs on early stones at old churches but never seen before small circles surrounding the central circle.

Log Text: Church sadly closed. Stone behind church has been set in concrete and aligned with graves, so it blends in with them rather well.

Virtuous Well

Virtuous Well submitted by Thorgrim on 20th Jan 2004. The Virtuous Well was formerly known as St Anne's Well. Situated in Trellech at SO503051, the well is one of nine that were once here. Each was reputed to cure a different malady. You should drop a pebble into the well and make a wish. If many bubbles appear, then your wish will be granted, if only a few then you will be disappointed.

St Martin's Church (Cwmyoy)

St Martin's Church (Cwmyoy) submitted by Sunny100 on 8th Oct 2011. In the church of St Martin near Llanthony there is a rare carved cross/crucifix. Christ is shown, quite clearly, in torment and agony, on the cross. The beautifully carved crucifix style cross was mentioned by the Monmouthshire Antiquarian J.M.Lewis in 2000. The cross is early Medieval. It was venerated by pilgrims walking the pilgrims route to St David's. The church at Cwmyoy itself is of interest because it leans at different angles due to hillside subsidence. Photo source: St Martin...

Cors y Gedol

Cors y Gedol submitted by TimPrevett on 24th Sep 2005. This was our last stop of the day, so lighting conditions were deteriorating rapidly. The best way I could get something out of this composite shot was to use a sepia filter. The collapsed chamber here (as so many in the area) is obvious. Fine views out to sea, and up into the mountains.
