Getting to this site is a welcome voyage, arriving at the gate (higher than a normal one) I read a friendly sign- warning me of a bull... So the landowner obviously doesn't want people visiting this site. Climbing over the gate I am affronted with another welcoming feature- electric fence. Slipping under the offending wire, and edging around the field keeping an eye out for the bull of terror, I approach the mound if earth and stones. King Arthur Stone submitted by Maeg on 27th Aug 2012. A view of the 6th century inscribed stone at Slaughterbridge, as seen from the adjacent footpath. The script is both latin and ogham and reads "Latini [h]ic iacit fili Macari" = Latinus son of Macarus lies here. Latinus is thought to have been a local celtic chief (according to Wikipedia at least).

Dupath Well submitted by KiwiBetsy on 11th Dec 2004. As you enter the chapel through the heavy wooden door, there before you built into the floor below the windows is a pool of crystal clear water which flows out under the eastern wall into a granite trough.
The chapel was built by the monks of St Germans in 1570 but the well was revered as a pre Christian shrine and has long held the reputation for curing whooping cough.

St Guron's Well House submitted by KiwiBetsy on 4th Oct 2006. St Guron’s Well lies a short distance from the wellhouse at the foot of the steps that lead up to St Petroc’s Church. The water runs from the mouths of two gargoyles and falls into a trough. The date 1545 is carved into the stonework.

Padstow Cross submitted by Thorgrim on 4th Nov 2004. Like so many ancient crosses, this one has been re-shafted. Cast down after the Reformation, the crosses were broken, tossed into hedges or built into walls. The shafts made excellent gateposts or door lintels.
