Dolmen Gorafe 079 submitted by ar on 29th Jan 2019. Approaching dolmen 079 which is situated on a slightly lower plateau.
The background of this pic reminds me to mention that there are also quite a number of cave-houses in the cliffsides around Gorafe village. Some of which used to be used as refuges but have now become tourist attractions. Some of these unusual dwellings are the legacy from the Almohad people of Los Algarves from the 12th century, and are still lived in to this day.

Dolmen Gorafe 072 submitted by ar on 27th Jan 2019. The risk of disappearance of some dolmens of Gorafe is evident. Dolmen number 72 for example is right on the edge of the cliff ... In return, it has a superb view over the town of Gorafe and over the valley of the Gor River.

Talking of great views: Late February/early March probably ideal for visiting the Majadillas group via the top of the cliff - approached from the dirt lane along almond groves that were about a fortnight off from bloom. As for driving around the Gor valley November was lovely because of the intense yellow autumn colour of the poplar trees ...

Two dozen arrowheads, a knife and flint microliths, bone idols, a copper punch, ceramic fragments and 20 human skeletons were found in this dolmen alone during excavations carried out by Luis Siret (see Megalitos.es ... most of the panels at the sites sadly are as good as illegible by now)
