Pointe de la Guérite menhir

Pointe de la Guérite menhir submitted by thecaptain on 7th Jun 2006. This is a relatively small menhir right above the cliffs of the magnificent Cote Sauvage of the Quiberon Peninsula. It is probably linked with the nearby allée couverte

Log Text: Although it is right next to the busy road, I give it a 5 for ambience because of the beautiful setting once your back is to the street.

Pointe de la Guérite allée couverte

Pointe de la Guérite allée couverte submitted by thecaptain on 7th Jun 2006. This little allée couverte sits right on the clifftop, and what a superb position it occupies, overlooking the splendid Cote Sauvage on the west of the Quiberon Peninsula.

Porz Guen dolmens

Porz Guen dolmens submitted by thecaptain on 14th Jun 2006. Remains of two dolmens on the clifftop to the north of the Porz Guen beach on the Cote Sauvage of the Quiberon Peninsula. The more inland is the most complete, with one capstone surviving on the entry couloir. The chamber would probably have been roofed with large corbelled capstones around it, many of which survive fallen neaby.

Log Text: At first I was wondering why so many people were on the path to visit the dolmen. As it turns out the beach was packed, but we were the only ones to hang around by the dolmens.

St-Pierre-Quiberon Alignement

St-Pierre-Quiberon Alignement submitted by thecaptain on 12th Jun 2006. Out on the Quiberon Peninsula, near to the Kerbourgnec cromlech can be found a pleasant little park with the remains of these alignements in it. The stones are of all shapes and sizes, up to 4 metres tall. There's a lovely curved "sharks fin" in front of me as I sat and wrote this, and a diamond to my right. These stones are wonderful, and its lovely to be able to just sit amongst them.

Kerbourgnec Alignements

Kerbourgnec Alignements submitted by thecaptain on 12th Jun 2006. There seemed to me to be several very clear lines of rocks stretching out into the sea in parallel rows. I believe I could see at least seven rows of rocks from where I sat on the bottom of the steps down to the beach. Fantastic!

Log Text: Difficult to see a cromlech among the stones of the alignment from ground level. It could simply be a case of missing stones making the appearance of a circle.

Botlann dolmen

Botlann dolmen submitted by minteddy on 12th Sep 2008. I assume this has been heavily restored to produce such a flat cap stone. What other dolmen look so slim?
