Eskildstrup Runddysse submitted by Tonnox on 27th Mar 2025. Eskildstrup Runddysse. Dolmen. Restored 1935. Chamber 2,4 x 1,6 x 1,5 meters. % orthostats. 1 cracked capostone. Cupmarke on capstone. In 1900, the dolmen was subjected to violent vandalism. On Midsummer's Eve, a colossal bonfire was lit on the large capstone. The stones cracked. The event was reported by a private person to the National Museum, who felt outraged by this disrespectful treatment. After this, the dolmen collapsed and 2 of the large orthostats were missing when restoration began in...
