Nyrup Birkehøj Jættestue submitted by Tonnox on 24th Oct 2024. Birkehøj. Passage grave in mound. The passage grave's internal dimensions are impressive. With a burial chamber that is 11 meters long, two meters wide and two meters high, there was room for many burials in the same chamber. The large stone construction shows the complicated work and the specialized knowledge that people had in the Stone Age, so that they could bury their dead safely and dry inside the burial chamber. There are 2 mounds next to each other. The mounds were restored in 1937. In the eastern mound the chamber is open. In the western mound the chamber is covered with earth
