Parsley Hay
Date Added: 18th Sep 2010
Site Type: Round Cairn
Country: England (Derbyshire)
Visited: Yes on 17th Dec 2003
Parsley Hay submitted by TimPrevett on 17th Dec 2003. Parsley Hay Round Cairn SK144631. The remains of this cairn are visible, and even some kerb stones show around the perimeter of the mound. Be careful! When we visited, a herd of frisky young bullocks followed us with great curiosity, and were it not for Jez's excellent communication skills with such animals, we might have been trampled...! This was a risky visit. Thanks Jez ;-)

Minning Low
Date Added: 18th Sep 2010
Site Type: Round Cairn
Country: England (Derbyshire)
Visited: Yes on 11th Jan 2004
Minning Low submitted by TimPrevett on 11th Jan 2004. This was a sunny day; the 2nd Derbyshire Stones Meet started off visiting Minning Low with a crisp blue December morning, by the timewe reached the site, took in the ambience and features, the clouds were leaden. Those of us fooled by the clear start were absolutely drenched on the way back. Minning Low is a great spot - and as the main entry says, can be seen for many, many miles around - thanks to the help of these Beech Trees.

Castle Ring (Derbyshire)
Date Added: 18th Sep 2010
Site Type: Hillfort
Country: England (Derbyshire)
Visited: Yes on 1st Feb 2004
Castle Ring (Derbyshire) submitted by TimPrevett on 1st Feb 2004. The westernmost ditch, with dry stone wall on top of the tallest rampart.
The views to the N and NW from here are commanding, even on a grey day such as this. The town of Youlgreave was clearly visible, and the adjoining field to the west, which was open and 'rolling' very much reminded me of Wiltshire.

Arbor Low 1
Date Added: 18th Sep 2010
Site Type: Stone Circle
Country: England (Derbyshire)
Visited: Yes on 25th Feb 2006

Arbor Low 1 submitted by TimPrevett on 25th Feb 2006. Visiting Arbor Low on Tues 21st Feb 2006, this circle has been 'burnt' into the centre of the monument with some chemical, killing the vegetation. Ivy, holly, lavender, and tea lights were left in the centre. Also planted nearby were some crocuses just beginning to flower. Surely *not* how leave a special place for other people?

Visited: Yes on 7th Nov 2006

Five Wells submitted by TimPrevett on 7th Nov 2006. A view without so many nettles! It can get very overgrown around the chambers during summer. It is possible to enter the western chamber a little, but the eastern is much more accommodating, and can provide a welcome windbreak.
