The area of unmown grass, yarrow, cow parsley etc between the two is the site of a triple ditched barrow, or maybe even a henge, not far from the River Tame.

See the Flash Earth image close up. This was part of a cursus... now bisected by the imperious A38, running along the course of the Roman Ryknild St. Cursus now descheduled.

Site Type: Standing Stone (Menhir)
Country: England (Staffordshire)
Visited: Yes on 4th Aug 2007

Boltstone submitted by TimPrevett on 4th Aug 2007. Within the view presented of this field once stood The Boltstone. No trace survives, it seems, as the farmer destroyed it looking for fabled treasure beneath it in 1839 - so the story goes. Not far to the NW of Kinver hillfort, off Bannut Tree Lane, near the footpath shown cutting across the field.

The Bargain Stone
Date Added: 18th Sep 2010
Site Type: Holed Stone
Country: England (West Midlands)
Visited: Yes on 28th Jul 2007

The Bargain Stone submitted by TimPrevett on 28th Jul 2007. The holed Bargain Stone outside St Peter's in Wolverhampton City Centre. It is believed bargains, probably deals on wool traded from the Welsh Marches, would have been sealed with a handshake through this stone. It is thought to be a well weathered and broken gargoyle, with the hole having been the drainage. Don't miss the huge Anglo Saxon cross shaft nearby.

Avebury submitted by TimPrevett on 22nd May 2006. Avebury snails; I don't recall having seen snails on standing stones before, so seeing this fellow (and some other companions) at Avebury, well, it seemed quite unusual. I'll keep looking at other sites from now!

Old Sarum submitted by TimPrevett on 8th Oct 2006. Walking from Salisbury centre along the river, then taking The Portway, just SW of Old Sarum is this stone set off the track. I assume it's modern, and once had a plaque on it, but does anyone know why it's here?
