Tatton Iron Age roundhouse and pit

Tatton Iron Age roundhouse and pit submitted by TimPrevett on 25th Mar 2005. Tatton Park is under the care of The National Trust but also managed by Cheshire County Council, so even for National Trust members there is a 4 pound admission charge per car. The features of note are all in the Parkland area near the Old Hall , and are easily driven to. I have tried to take a photo of each of the areas where said features would have been, having copied the circle from the mulitmap data onto my own OS map. Without GPS and further information, I've endeavoured to be as accurate ...

Piper's Crag Stone

Piper's Crag Stone submitted by TimPrevett on 28th Mar 2005. After visiting the Swastika Stone, we visited a well cup marked stone. Here Rich32 is in another elbow raising ritual, Cassie waits for David to throw his camera for her to fetch, Jeremy awaits transportation to the nearest excarnation platform, and Marion finds it all too much, and turns her back on it.

Horncliffe Circle

Horncliffe Circle submitted by TimPrevett on 28th Mar 2005. When visiting the Horncliffe Circle, we disturbed an archaeologist doing some solitary surveying for Bradford Uni, and gave us a very helpful impromptu lecture. He is to the right of the circle, with Rich32, Baz, and Eileen. He said he'd spied us earlier on some distance away at the Skirtful of Stones and thought "what's on here?" !

Long Bredy Bank Barrow

Long Bredy Bank Barrow submitted by TimPrevett on 27th Apr 2005. The Long Bredy Bank Barrow - very long and very wide! Portal contributor Morgoth is to the left, giving it a sense of scale. This view is looking north. If you look carefully between Morgoth's head and the pylon above the green field, you may notice a long line crop mark which intrigued a few of us on the Megalithic Meet. This Bank Barrow also acts as a terminus for another Dorset cursus, which ends only 150 feet away or so to the west.
