Parsley Hay
Date Added: 18th Sep 2010
Site Type: Round Cairn
Country: England (Derbyshire)
Visited: Yes on 17th Dec 2003
Parsley Hay submitted by TimPrevett on 17th Dec 2003. Parsley Hay Round Cairn SK144631. The remains of this cairn are visible, and even some kerb stones show around the perimeter of the mound. Be careful! When we visited, a herd of frisky young bullocks followed us with great curiosity, and were it not for Jez's excellent communication skills with such animals, we might have been trampled...! This was a risky visit. Thanks Jez ;-)

Pabell Llywarch Hen
Date Added: 18th Sep 2010
Site Type: Stone Circle
Country: Wales (Gwynedd)
Visited: Yes on 24th Feb 2007

Pabell Llywarch Hen submitted by TimPrevett on 24th Feb 2007. This is classed as a type 4 site, destroyed or unrecognisable. The
Burl gazetteer entry has it as being destroyed pre-1746 (credit to Maggie & Keith @ Megalithics for that info). Unsurprisingly, yes, nothing was to be seen. Somewhere on the right, the south east side of the A494 at Llanfor near Bala, there was once a stone circle. Not any more. The property seen is called "Carreg y Big" - perhaps a place name indicative of what was once here.

Old Sarum submitted by TimPrevett on 8th Oct 2006. Walking from Salisbury centre along the river, then taking The Portway, just SW of Old Sarum is this stone set off the track. I assume it's modern, and once had a plaque on it, but does anyone know why it's here?

Visited: Yes on 18th May 2004
Norton Camp (Shropshire) submitted by TimPrevett on 18th May 2004. Darkness and light. Some parts of the hillfort were very dark, such as at this eastern entrance of the main enclosure where the height of the ramparts bolsters the elevation of the trees and rhododendra. The enclosure beyond is all within the ramparts of the monument.
On a glorious May evening, having already exhausted myself upon The Long Mynd, I pushed myself even further, and hopped on the train with my bike for another journey nine minutes south from Church Stretton. Norton Camp had been ...
