Comet Stone (Orkney)
Date Added: 18th Sep 2010
Site Type: Standing Stone (Menhir)
Country: Scotland (Orkney)
Visited: Yes on 31st Jul 2006

Comet Stone (Orkney) submitted by TimPrevett on 31st Jul 2006. The Comet Stone with summery meadow, looking to the Ring of Brodgar. Amazingly, this was the middle of summer, and though this looks pleasantly warm - Orkney was the coldest place in the British Isles on this day. Fleece, gloves, and winter hat were needed.

Corndon Hill 3
Date Added: 18th Sep 2010
Site Type: Cairn
Country: Wales (Powys)

Corndon Hill 3 submitted by TimPrevett on 30th Dec 2004. The third cairn on top of Corndon Hill, looking to Corndon Hill 4 and the north east, Midwinter Solstice 2004.
Many of the cairns show signs of interference and digging into; about five such 'holes', three very sizeable, are within this cairn.
View to the north east.

Corndon Hill 4
Date Added: 18th Sep 2010
Site Type: Cairn
Country: Wales (Powys)
Visited: Yes on 30th Dec 2004
Corndon Hill 4 submitted by TimPrevett on 30th Dec 2004. The most north eastern cairn on top of Corndon Hill, Midwinter Solstice 2004. Corndon Hill 3, left, and Corndon Hill 2, top right are also visible.
The cairns are substantial, and writing as one who has walked miles to see much lesser cairns, this hilltop is a worthy visit.
My friend, 'Wintertrees', helps gave a sense of scale.

Cors Y Carneddau
Date Added: 18th Sep 2010
Site Type: Stone Circle
Country: Wales (Conwy)
Visited: Yes on 8th Apr 2004
Cors Y Carneddau submitted by TimPrevett on 8th Apr 2004. Cors Y Carneddau Circle
All that remains of this circle is an arc of stones curving towards the inverted "Y" shape of a wall field boundary to its immediate north. It is this same wall that helps to locate the circle in relation to an otherwise open mountainside and moor. Some may see it not as a circle, but as a rather fortuitous arrangement of boulders, but the guidebooks remain open minded.

Cors y Gedol
Date Added: 18th Sep 2010
Site Type: Chambered Tomb
Country: Wales (Gwynedd)
Visited: Yes on 24th Sep 2005
Cors y Gedol submitted by TimPrevett on 24th Sep 2005. This was our last stop of the day, so lighting conditions were deteriorating rapidly. The best way I could get something out of this composite shot was to use a sepia filter. The collapsed chamber here (as so many in the area) is obvious. Fine views out to sea, and up into the mountains.
