Caer Drewyn
Date Added: 18th Sep 2010
Site Type: Hillfort
Country: Wales (Denbighshire)
Visited: Yes on 24th Oct 2005

Caer Drewyn submitted by TimPrevett on 24th Oct 2005. Flying from Exeter to Liverpool, the plane went over North Devon, Minehead, Cardiff, the Brecon Beacons, heading NE at Builth Wells, then flying up over the Clwydian Range. Inbetween, I saw this hillfort pop out between the clouds. Having looked at other pictures and multimap aerial shots, I am fairly sure this is Dinas Bran just N from Llangollen.

Dinas Bran
Date Added: 18th Sep 2010
Site Type: Hillfort
Country: Wales (Denbighshire)
Visited: Yes on 3rd Feb 2006

Dinas Bran submitted by TimPrevett on 3rd Feb 2006. Dinas Bran, approaching twilight emerges through the mountain fog across from the Eglwysegs. On full size, this picture looks fine, but resizing, it suddenly goes very grainy. Anyway, we were hoping for a day of good visibility - but far from it! Instead thick fog, and ice hugging anything that stays still on the mountain for more than a couple hours! Very atmospheric.

Brygolen Cairn 3 submitted by TimPrevett on 3rd Feb 2006. Brygolen Cairn 3 in the frosted, foggy landscape. Supposedly some of the best views in Wales up here... anyway, it certainly was unforgettable. The cairn is extremely disturbed, though extensive.

Eglwyseg Kerb Cairn B
Date Added: 18th Sep 2010
Site Type: Cairn
Country: Wales (Denbighshire)
Visited: Yes on 4th Feb 2006

Eglwyseg Kerb Cairn B submitted by TimPrevett on 4th Feb 2006. Not as defined as its neighbour, the Kerb Cairn B is still obvious. Have taken it with the tree in for point of reference, but the trees up there were largely dead, or on their way - so this may not be there for much longer.

Eglwyseg Mountain submitted by TimPrevett on 4th Feb 2006. Megaraks in the mist... the visibility up here varied from second to second, literally. I went to explore the panel on a large stone, turned around and my companion was disappearing, along with the standing stone. See main entry for details.

Brenig 6
Date Added: 18th Sep 2010
Site Type: Cairn
Country: Wales (Denbighshire)
Visited: Yes on 20th Feb 2006

Brenig 6 submitted by TimPrevett on 20th Feb 2006. The small cairn of Brenig 6. Also reconstructed in situ, with posts denoting where posts contemporary with the cairn were discovered. Its low position in the landscape is puzzling. Most cairns sit high on ridges on spurs with good visibility in at least one direction. This does not. This view looks to the South West, with Maen Cleddau below the ridge.
