High Bridestones (Yorks)

High Bridestones (Yorks) submitted by JimChampion on 7th Dec 2007. August 2007. The High Bridestones, on the moor. Just one of the megaliths is still standing, with small change firmly wedged into its many crevices. A megalithic shambles indeed. The heather in bloom says that it is summer, although the temperature (and wind) on this day was more like winter!

The Polisher (Fyfield Down)

The Polisher (Fyfield Down) submitted by TheWhiteRider on 1st Jul 2005. The Polisher stone on Fyfield Down, near Avebury. After some hunting I stumbled across the stone and felt I had been transported back in time. A wonderful link to our ancient past in an almost unspoiled hitoric environment and just another reason to love the Avebury area.

Stoney Littleton submitted by TheWhiteRider on 4th Jul 2005. The long chamber of Stoney Littleton Long Barrow is quite an experience. A torch is a must as it is quite a crawl to the end of the barrow. Wonderfully atmospheric.

Four Stones (Powys)

Date Added: 25th Jun 2012
Site Type: Stone Circle Country: Wales (Powys)
Visited: Yes on 4th Jul 2005

Four Stones (Powys)

Four Stones (Powys) submitted by TheWhiteRider on 4th Jul 2005. Four Stones Stone Circle in Powys. The circle is situated right by the road and there appears to be no access, although the grass had been trodden down around them. Despite this the circle is very impressive due to the sheer sizer of the stones.

Kinnerton

Date Added: 25th Jun 2012
Site Type: Standing Stones Country: Wales (Powys)
Visited: Yes on 4th Jul 2005

Kinnerton

Kinnerton submitted by TheWhiteRider on 4th Jul 2005. We could only find one of the Kinerton Standing Stones. This one, just visible in the long grass is right next to a footpath. The other, according to the map, is just a little way down the road, but appears to be on private land and is hidden by a high hedge and other foliage. A visit during the Winter months may offer a glimpse of it.
