Ephesus submitted by dodomad on 4th Oct 2015. An amulet figure that has been unearthed during excavations at the Çukuriçi mound in Ephesus has revealed that the ancient city is actually nine millennia old.
Made of black stone and believed to have been used as jewelry, the 2.1-centimeter amulet brings the history of Ephesus 9,000 years back – a full 1,000 years earlier than previously believed.

Log Text: Horseback ride from San Augustin, ponies really and they are pretty placid, even for someone who hadn't ridden before. Better than walking as the ground is pretty wet and muddy.

Derinkuyu Underground City submitted by AlexHunger on 23rd Sep 2007. Room of Cappodacian Underground city datıng to about 1000-800 BCE when Assyrian where troubling the remnants of the Hittites.
Later the underground cıties where reused by christians fleeing Roman persecutıons.
The shafts go about 45 Meters deep in about 8 levels.
In the last 1800 years locals farmers used them for holding sheep and storing grain and wıne.
