Bedd yr Afanc submitted by Adam Stanford on 24th Nov 2004. Bedd-yr-Afanc (PEM 27), also known as Bryn Berian is located at 142m AOD at the centre of a dramatic U-shaped valley, on a slightly raised oval plateau surrounded by a raised bog and is the only definite example of a gallery grave in Wales. Barbrook II stone circle is not marked on any of the maps but is located 600m to the north-north-west of Barbrook I. It is of a similar size to Barbrook I, consisting of an irregular set of nine (originally ten) stones set into a low dry-stone wall, 14.5m by 13.5m in diameter, 3.5m wide and 0.5m high, with one entrance to the north-east.

Another inclusion in the regions’ Archaeosights leaflet - quite a way into wilderness country but the lane is a nice drive. Once you have found the relavant stile your walk begins. It is not a long walk but it is uphill, dark and wet (I wish I hadn’t watched The Blair Witch Project a night or two before!) but the King’s Cairn is worth the fear. Strangely the cairn (at NS55210090) is enclosed in a fence (easily crossed) and then a ramshackled dry stone wall.

Yordas Cave submitted by andy_h on 27th Apr 2004. Previously a Victorian Showcave in which evidence of early human habitation was found. A wonderful place to spend an afternoon exploring with a torch. The highlight being the underground waterfall chamber at the back of the cave.

Marked on maps as standing stone but situated in private farmland. Also known as the Gliffaes stone, at 4.27m this is one of the tallest bronze age standing stones in Wales.
