Log Text: What an ENORMOUS hillfort.
50+ acres, double walls and the internal ones measured from outside are 60m (that's 200ft!) high. Much as I like trees, i.e. enormously, less than half of the middle of the enclosed area has been de-treed. Two dog walkers and I both think that The Woodland Trust should get on with the job of clearing the entire area as far as the outer edge of the walls, as it surely would have been in the Iron Age.

Cosdon Hill Summit Cairns submitted by TheCaptain on 9th Jun 2004. Cosdon Hill Summit Cairns, Dartmoor, Devon SX636915 to SX637917
The remains of five cairns can clearly be found at the summit of Cosdon Hill, approximately following the ridge of the hill in a north-south manner.
The fifth cairn at the north of the hill is a very impressive beast. This cairn must be nearly complete except for a small depression within the centre. The outer edges of the cairn are nicely held in place by a ring of large stone slabs, and within the cairn structure itself can...

Cors y Gedol
Date Added: 26th Nov 2015
Site Type: Chambered Tomb
Country: Wales (Gwynedd)
Visited: Would like to visit
Cors y Gedol submitted by TimPrevett on 24th Sep 2005. This was our last stop of the day, so lighting conditions were deteriorating rapidly. The best way I could get something out of this composite shot was to use a sepia filter. The collapsed chamber here (as so many in the area) is obvious. Fine views out to sea, and up into the mountains.

Conon Bridge submitted by Creative Commons on 17th Sep 2011. Henge in Conon Bridge
This ancient earthwork lies incongruously among modern housing close to the centre of the village of Conon Bridge. It almost certainly dates from at least 2000BC. It's amazing that it has survived!
