Grey Stone (Harewood)
Date Added: 26th Jan 2017
Site Type: Rock Art
Country: England (Yorkshire (West))
Visited: Yes on 12th Nov 2016. My rating: Condition 4 Ambience 5 Access 4
Grey Stone (Harewood) submitted by DavidRaven on 13th Aug 2003. A large boulder in the grounds of the Harewood House estate near Harrogate.
A very worn carving of seven concentric rings lies on it's north-western flank. The carving faces out over the valley to the conspicuous outcrop called Almscliff Crag. Apparently, the midwinter full moon would have set
behind the crags at the lunar standstill in 1800 B.C.!
If you visit, watch out for the Red Kites and over zealous estate workers intent on preventing gentle tresspass!

Cashelkeelty Stone Row submitted by frogcottage42 on 21st Feb 2010. This is the stone row at Cashelkeelty East. T. A fourth socket was revealed by excavation to the east (right of pic) The mediaeval road is between the stones and the trees. The stones visible to the right are the circle. All around this site are relict field boundaries and unusual stone features which easily justify the walk up the hill.

Carn Fadrun
Date Added: 29th Nov 2016
Site Type: Hillfort
Country: Wales (Gwynedd)
Visited: Would like to visit

Carn Fadrun submitted by Postman on 19th Jun 2015. The strongest contender for the bronze age robbed cist, a robbed cist with some cairn material left over, overlaid by the fort wall, sounds like looking for a needle in a haystack... a haystack made of needles. But it's in the right place and I can imagine a cist once being where the green low bushes are now.
