Hampston's Well submitted by TimPrevett on 5th May 2008. The main entry has good details. On arriving there is space for two cars, and even a bag for litter! Two large embedded columns give information about the sites history, linking them to Burton Iron Age settlement and Anglo Saxon usage. Steps lead down into a wide open area into which seem to flow a number of tributary springs - though given Cheshire and Lancashire had some flash flooding last night with horrendous thunder and torrential rain, much of this wider area was a mud bath. Located 6km south east of Crymych in Carmarthenshire on a steep wooded ridge overlooking the River Taff (at this point the river changes character from slow flowing to rapids).
