Bindon Hill
Date Added: 13th Mar 2013
Site Type: Hillfort
Country: England (Dorset)
Visited: Yes on 7th Aug 2008. My rating: Condition 2 Ambience 4 Access 3

Bindon Hill submitted by JimChampion on 14th May 2005. The context of the fort, on top of Bindon Hill and towering over Lulworth Cove. The cove would have been an important harbour for early Iron Age settlers/invaders arriving from the continent, and it is suggested that the defensive earthworks of Bindon Hill were a hurried beach-head fortification to secure control of the cove.

Castle Hill, Mottistone submitted by ringpaw on 27th Aug 2007. View from below - perhaps gives an idea of the squared-off nature of the fort. The fencing on the horizon is related to a small modern reservoir at the south-east corner of the feature.
