According to RootsWeb.com, this well is also known as Maggy Figgy and Margery Daw and was a popular place to christen your doll on Good Friday. St Mawe's Well

St Mawe's Well submitted by theendlessbreeze on 13th Oct 2005. The well is found in the old part of town, up the hill, past the Victory Inn. The sign says the well dates from the 6th Century, the arch 15th Century.
