Took the photo with old medium format camera and expired film to hopefully add some atmosphere to this reconstructed site. The stones of the site have been rediscovered during deep ploughing and rearranged without any knowledge of the original state. Furthermore the site probably originates from medieval times. The chamber measures 3.8 x 3.2 meters and is up to 2.5 meters in hight. The chamber is orientated nearly in North-South direction, the entrance is in the south. The large capstone measures 5.65 x 4.10 x 0.40 meters.

Göbekli Tepe submitted by AlexHunger on 1st Aug 2006. Segment D is one of the near circular shaped pillared areas in the best condition of Göbekli Tepe.
There are 5 more, usually smaller such pillared areas on this site, many of the pillars having elaborate carvings.
Göbekli Tepe is apparently a Pre Pottery Neolithic Temple dating back to about 9,000 BCE near the Euphrates in South Eastern Turkey.

Loved the anthropomorphic stones and the animals carved on to the rocks.
The museum in Urfa is a must for the statues on display there
