Taken from Egypt and placed in the center of Paris. It originaly stood in front of the temple of Luxor, where its twin remains. Similar to Cleopatra's needle in London, there are more captured obelisks of this kind in Central Park New York or Rome etc. It received a Gold cap on the Pyramidon tip for the year 2000.

Mithras Temple (London) submitted by AlexHunger on 22nd May 2011. Photo from 2011. This ancient Temple of Mithras was found on Queen Victoria Street in London in 1955. The building remains were displayed in front of the Legal & General headquarters until fenced of recently. Other artifacts are in the Museum Of London.
As the Legal & General offices are being redevelopped, the site is no longer accessible. The Photo was taken from accross the street in the "Poultry" Offices.

The Egyptian authorities are about to start a refurbishment of the neck, shoulder and breast area, hence the scaffolding.

There are 3 chambers and a grand Gallery angled passage.
4th Dynasty Pharao Khufu was the son of Sneferu who finally mastered the art and logistics of building pyramids.
There is only one small ivory statue of Khufu in existance, which is exhibited in the Cairo museum.
