Harrys Stone submitted by MartinRS on 16th Aug 2013. The site of Oxdale Lodge, by the side of Houndkirk Road. Fairbank's 18th Century map shows Oxdale Lodge to be the location of Harrys Stone. According to Addy, a 19th Century historian, 'Harry is the Anglo-Saxon hearh or hearg (pronounced harry), meaning a temple or idol.' Impressively situated on the hillside close to St. David's Head, Coetan Arthur is the collapsed chamber of what is presumed to be a passage grave which also has a round barrow. The massive capstone measures approximately 5.9 meters by 2.6 meters and is supported on one side by an orthostat approximately 1.5 meters in height.
