Knockdrum Stone Fort submitted by Madrid_Miner on 11th May 2013. Knockdrum Stone Fort from inside the fort looking south. This fort appears to have been reconstructed, as it stands with no breaks in the walls and is quite tidy. Access is through a gated fence and up a path to the top of a hill. A farmer was present, but ignored me. Cattle were also present within the fence. I've been there twice. Once in 1991 and again in 2010. Access was easier on the first visit. The site was marked on the first visit, but no markings are evident at the road in 2010.

Log Text: Walking up the hill to this site was a bit tricky. There were fences to climb, brushy corridors to circumvent, hidden rocks and holes along the way, and cattle in the fields. I chose to walk in from the trail down from the ring fort to the south, but then walked out towards the school house at the west end of the marshy field. Neither path was easy walking. There were no roadside indicators or gates that made the trek to these sites straight forward.
