St Ruan's Well (Ruan Lanihorne)

St Ruan's Well (Ruan Lanihorne) submitted by celticmaiden55 on 11th Nov 2012. A view from the front of St Ruan Lanihorne Holy Well, it is starting to crumble on the inner walls and there is a lot of sediment on the floor of the well, my wellington boot sank and I had to really pull to get it out so not sure how deep it is.The surrounding area is well tended, although you need to clamber under a wire fence to get in to see it close.

Log Text: Had a nice chat to David Thomas, Cornwall County Council Archivist, about this cross, the Maen Cadoar, North Cliffs and the Basset family. He was waiting for the sun to be at the right angle to highlight the carvings on the cross stem, in order to photograph them for an article. A very nice and knowledgeable man.
