I find something magical about the process of creating a startrail picture. Sitting under the stars for three or four hours with no lights so my eyes have adjusted to the dark so well that I don't need any additional light. Louden south
Date Added: 27th Aug 2021
Site Type: Ancient Village or Settlement
Country: England (Cornwall)
Visited: Yes on 26th Aug 2021. My rating: Condition 2 Ambience 4 Access 3

Louden menhirs submitted by TheCaptain on 12th Apr 2005. On the southern slopes of Louden Hill, where the new trackway descends the hill are the remains of an ancient settlement, remains of which can be seen all around in this picture.
Just to the south of the track is a fairly impressive stone standing upright. Closer inspection shows there to be others nearby. Far too big for a hut doorpost, is it a menhir ? or is it a more modern marker for the ancient trackway across the moor here ?

Louden Long Cairn submitted by davep on 24th Jul 2022. I found the site in the photo at SX 14025 80332 using the grid reference for this Megalithic Portal entry. It matches the description of a site on the HER which also matches this grid reference with HER uid=MCO11015.
There is an entry on Pstscape entry for the medieval long houses by the foot of Roughtor which could not conceivably be confused with long cairns.

Louden Hill circle

Louden Hill circle submitted by RoyG on 15th Mar 2015. Stone 26 introduced us to what was to become known affectionately as ‘Louden Man’ and
along with the ‘Crow Stone’ (Stone 44) found later, were to become popular with walkers passing by that looked in to see what we were up to.
Lying buried for many years, 'Louden Man' was to reveal this wonderful image once the light was
in a favourable position.
