Knocknakilla submitted by Johnny on 21st Jun 2002. Knocknakilla Megalithic Complex, Co. Cork (W297 841): On the NW slopes of Musherabeg Mountain, Knocknakilla, the "stone of the church", is almost a twin to the megalithic complex at Kealkil (cf): both sites consist of a five-stone ring, a pair of standing stones and a radial cairn. Of the two pillar stones, one is now prostrate the other being the dominant feature in the complex standing 3.7m in height. The stones would originally have been just over 3.5m apart and aligned NNE-SSW....

St. Brigid's Holy Well submitted by enkidu41 on 24th May 2004. St. Brigid's Holy Well, Liscannor. R 044900 The Burren in Co. Clare has scores of holy wells not all of which have stood the test of time. Some are cased in concrete with modern plastic pipes extruding from the casing whilst others have disappeared under the vegetation. This well is probably the most important exception and is stated as being "one of the three most strongly lasting survivals of Lughnasa". This is a shot down the curved passage to the well proper at the end.
