View of the Kermario Dolmen which is right at the southwest corner of the Kermario Alignements, and right in the corner of the road which skirts the site.
This picture was taken in 1987 when people were free to wander amongst the stones as they pleased. The terrible erosion caused by all the visitors is only too obvious.

Codford St Peter Cross submitted by Thorgrim on 16th Nov 2004. The carving is unweathered and could have been done yesterday - yet it is more than a thousand years old (9th century). The figure of a man seems to be dancing beneath a fruit laden tree. In his hand he carries a mallet or perhaps a rattle, but no one has been able to understand just what he is doing. Its a cracking little barrow, with the most wonderful passage and chambers inside, and the powers that be have even left a decent sized area around it free of any farming activity. A lovely sunny day, but some of the walk to the barrow was horrendously muddy.
The fields around the barrow had recently been ploughed, a crop of beet of some sort having been the last grown. While walking back after my visit, I found a bit of the lovely golden colou...

St Martin's Church (Cwmyoy) submitted by Sunny100 on 8th Oct 2011. In the church of St Martin near Llanthony there is a rare carved cross/crucifix. Christ is shown, quite clearly, in torment and agony, on the cross. The beautifully carved crucifix style cross was mentioned by the Monmouthshire Antiquarian J.M.Lewis in 2000.
The cross is early Medieval. It was venerated by pilgrims walking the pilgrims route to St David's. The church at Cwmyoy itself is of interest because it leans at different angles due to hillside subsidence.

There is a theory that dolmens (or quoits as they are known in Cornwall) were not totally covered in earth but the capstones were left uncovered and were a copy of the horizon. I have manipulated the tones in this shot to show this, but no shapes have been altered.

ST501644.Somerset.Nr Bristol Airport.Come off the A30 at Redhill village turn right after the church and follow the road for about a mile.You come to a fork,find somewhere to park.on the north of the fork is a field gate,go through up the field and through the next gate and the stones are there.The cap stone has a hollow which fills with water for the Wimblestone to drink.

Impressively situated on the hillside close to St. David's Head, Coetan Arthur is the collapsed chamber of what is presumed to be a passage grave which also has a round barrow. The massive capstone measures approximately 5.9 meters by 2.6 meters and is supported on one side by an orthostat approximately 1.5 meters in height.

This attractive neolithic tomb is situated five miles from Waterford city. It consists of two east-facing portal stones with a blocking door between and a chamber behind comprised of three other uprights. The various uprights support a large capstone some 4.2 meters in length.
