This slender solitary standing stone stands a short distance from the Maen-y-Bardd burial chamber with which it is linked in legend: the stone is reputed to have been thrown by a giant at his dog which was lazing in the chamber!

Maen y Bardd submitted by Johnny on 27th Nov 2001. Maen y Bardd (The Bard or Poet's Stone) neolithic burial chamber, Conwy, (GRSH740 717) is a delightful monument in an absolutely stunning area. Situated alongside a prehistoric pathway on a ridge 1.5 miles above Rowen, the difficulty in access is definitely worth the effort! It is believed to be the remains of a portal dolmen and consists of a rectangular chamber, 1.2m in height, formed by a capstone resting on four uprights. St Celynin's Well submitted by kelpie on 27th Jun 2004. This well sits in the corner of the churchyard of an isolated little church in a beautfiul part of Wales (SH 7511773696).
The well used to be roofed (1622) and the existing walls have been recently rebuilt, the stone benches may also be later additions.
The well has a reputation for curing sick children.

St Cadwaladr (Llangadwaladr) submitted by TimPrevett on 23rd Sep 2007. The most important burial inscription on Anglesey. referring to St Cadfan, a King of Gwynedd who died around 625 AD. The style is indicative of wide contacts, as far as the western mediterranean.
The stone is set in the wall in front of you as you enter the building, and reads:
CATAMANUS REX SAPIENTIS MUS OPINATISM US OMNIUM REG UM - King Catamanus wisest most renowned of all kings.

Access: Very good. On road outside of Holyhead. Visible from the road, we parked up, and over a stile, this signposted stone is no problem to find. I believe it is just down the road from a burial chamber.
The stone: Much taller than me, maybe 8ft tall; sheep wool, bird poo and lichen decorated this one. It reminded me almost of a whippy ice-cream, twisted around to a conical point.

Lligwy Burial Chamber submitted by Jimwithnoname on 8th Sep 2011. Amazing dolmen and very unnerving sat underneath the 25 ton capstone. It's perched on very little it seems on the one side. The warden approached us as we sat eating at the site. He asked if we were thinking of stopping the night, which we were, but as he said. that's a no no. We respected him and moved on after our picnic. He was quite pleasant and only doing his job. Many people wild camp as he said, and set fire to crops or drive through hedges!

As this site is right next to the road, it is well visited. In spite of this, it has a remote and reflective atmosphere.

Reckoned to be as old as Duggleby Howe, and a similar size: seven and a half meters high and thirty six and a half meters in diameter.
Attempts at finding its secrets in 1857 and again thirty years later yielded nothing. A pit about nine feet deep was discovered but was bereft of objects or human ...
