Finlaggan

Finlaggan submitted by Andy B on 13th Jun 2011. Finlaggan Standing Stone A solitary Standing Stone , naturally predating the Lordship of the Isles. As ever various theories surround the placing and use of the stone. However in 1994 Geophysic surveys by the "Time Team" suggest that there may have originally been a line of stones marking the way to Jura. As this site is right next to the road, it is well visited. In spite of this, it has a remote and reflective atmosphere.

Ty Mawr (Nr Holyhead)

Ty Mawr (Nr Holyhead) submitted by TimPrevett on 2nd Jul 2002. Nr Holyhead SH254810 Visited Tuesday 15th June 1999 Access: Very good. On road outside of Holyhead. Visible from the road, we parked up, and over a stile, this signposted stone is no problem to find. I believe it is just down the road from a burial chamber. The stone: Much taller than me, maybe 8ft tall; sheep wool, bird poo and lichen decorated this one. It reminded me almost of a whippy ice-cream, twisted around to a conical point.

Lligwy Burial Chamber

Lligwy Burial Chamber submitted by Jimwithnoname on 8th Sep 2011. Amazing dolmen and very unnerving sat underneath the 25 ton capstone. It's perched on very little it seems on the one side. The warden approached us as we sat eating at the site. He asked if we were thinking of stopping the night, which we were, but as he said. that's a no no. We respected him and moved on after our picnic. He was quite pleasant and only doing his job. Many people wild camp as he said, and set fire to crops or drive through hedges!
